Michael is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) and has 11 years experience in real estate, real estate financing, private equity real estate investment and banking.

Michael has extensive experience in investment property, property development, property finance, including buy-side and sell-side due diligence in multi-billion (GBP) loan and asset portfolios, debt restructuring / refinancing in Northern Ireland and Great Britain. Whilst primarily based in Belfast he works closely with colleagues in London and Dublin spending time in both offices.

Michael formerly worked in Bank of Ireland’s Specialist Property Group (SPG), where he was a portfolio manager and part of the Real Estate Advisory Team. Within this broad role, Michael managed a multi-jurisdictional loan book comprising various commercial asset types, residential investment portfolios and considerable landbanks.

As part of the real estate team he helped devise deleverage options on a multi-billion (GBP) non-core real estate back book. This included proactive asset management strategies, strategic build-out considerations and joint venture structures, debt right-sizing and targeted portfolio realisations. This multifaceted strategy preserved and enhanced the portfolio value as well as precipitated the reduction in Bank of Irelands non-core real estate exposure.

Michael’s role in GVA is in real estate investment and development deal origination, providing strategic advice to clients in value investing; in line with return profiles, and proactive asset management strategies. He has also advised clients in equity market capital raises, senior debt options and mezzanine finance to aid delivery of commercial and residential investments across the UK. Michael advises a broad range of clients such as local investors/developers, Private Equity Co’s, Prop Co’s, Opportunity Funds and Financial & Corporate Institutions.

Jago provides advice to a range of clients covering all aspects of valuation and commercial agency in relation to property throughout Northern Ireland with a particular expertise in office agency and development.  Major clients include BT Group Property, RBS, HSBC and Scarborough Group.

Jago has been involved in a range of major office developments in Belfast over the years including as sole letting agent for Millennium House, as well as other major schemes in Belfast City Centre leased to PricewaterhouseCoopers and Northern Ireland Government bodies, including the Department of Finance and Personnel.

Jago also advises BT Group Property in relation to their HQ offices, Lanyon Place, a 150,000 sq ft building in Belfast City Centre and in relation to the company’s operational property throughout Northern Ireland.
